Christopher Jones, currently president of Charles River Broadcasting has agreed to purchase the assets of radio stations WCRI-FM, licensed to Block Island, RI and WCNX-AM, licensed to HopeValley, RI from Charles River Broadcasting.*
WCRI programs classical music as part of the World Classical Network at 95.9 mHz. WCNX programs a News/Talk format at 1180 kHz. Both stations serve the Providence-Warwick-Pawtucket, RI market.
“I am thrilled to be able to continue to carry on the classical music tradition and serve Rhode Island with two varieties of programming. I am also excited about the possibility of acquiring the two Cape Cod stations that Charles River now owns along with the World Classical Network,” said Chris Jones, whose father, the late Ted Jones, founded Charles River Broadcasting.
“The Board of Directors of CRB is very happy that Chris was the successful bidder for our Rhode Island stations and we wish him and his family every success,” said Mary L. Marshall, Chairman of the Board of Charles River Broadcasting.
Tom McKinley of Media Services Group’s New York Metro Office and George R. Reed of Media Services Group’s Jacksonville Office represented Charles River Broadcasting in this transaction.
